Let me be very real with you:
I was not emotionally prepared for this game, and I already knew what was going to happen.
The Past of Us Part 1 isn't just a remastered classic. It's a raw, devastating, beautifully crafted masterpiece that reminds you why you fell in love with storytelling through games in the first place.
Even though I'd seen clips, spoilers, and memes years ago actually playing it? That's a whole different level of pain.
Joel and Ellie: The Duo that Broke Me
The dynamic between Joel and Ellie is one of the most heart-wrenching relationships I've experienced in a game. Their connection isn't built on sunshine and smiles. It's built on survival, trauma, fear, and slowly love.
Watching them grow together while trying to navigate a world that's gone to tell? It hurts. But it's the kind of hurt that stays with you in the best way.

The Gameplay: survival, Tension, and Real Stakes
This isn't your average cozy game (lol not even close) From the haunting silence of abandoned cities to the chaos of clicker-filled buildings, every moment had me on edge.
The facial expressions? The way grief lingers in a character's eyes? the way every environment feels like it's telling a story of its own?
yeah 10/10 Gut wrenching perfection.
The Emotional damage? Worth It
I cried.
I screamed>
I paused the game and walked away because I couldn't deal.
And still...I loved every second of it.
I think what makes The Last of Us so impactful is that it never tries to sugarcoat anything.
It asks you to sit in the messiness of love, loss, vengeance, and survival and it does it unapologetically.
From Cozy Games to Chaos (and Why That's Okay)
I know I usually live in the world of cozy horse games and pastel pixel towns.
But sometimes I need a reminder of what makes games such a powerful medium and The Last of Us Part 1 did that for me.
It pulled me out of my comfort zone and wrapped me in a story that didn't let go.... not even when the credits rolled.
If you've never played it or even if you have give the remake a chance. Feel it all. Let it wreck you a little. And remember, crying over a video games, That's valid. Always.
