Why I Switched Back to TikTok Live Streaming (After Fighting With OBS and Twitch One Too Many Times)

I gave Twitch a fair shot. I gave OBS so many chances.
I downloaded the plugins. I watched the tutorials. I adjusted the bitrate, changed the sources, rebuilt scenes from scratch at 2AM with one eye open and a snack in my mouth like some kind of caffeinated tech goblin.
and STILL something was always glitching, freezing, or flat-out refusing to work.
Meanwhile TikTok?
TikTok was just there. Sitting pretty. Quiet Waiting for me to stop overcomplicating everything and come back home to where the vibes are simple and the algorithm actually wanted me to win.
So guess what?
I'm back on TikTok LIVE . And this time, I'm doing it my way.
Why twitch and OBS Wore Me All The Way Out
Let's be honest. Twitch is amazing in theory. But for small creators like me, it started to feel like:
Talking into the void with 1-2 people watching.
Competing against creators with insane setups and huge followings
Constant OBS drama (crashes, lag, dropped frames, mic issues...you name it)
Stressing over overlays, stream alerts, and making sure everything looked "professional" enough.
Spending more time fixing tech than actually streaming.
At some point, it stopped being fun. And that's when I knew something had to change.
Why TikTok LIVE Just Makes Sense Right Now
TikTok doesn't care if your stream is messy.
TikTok doesn't need fancy overlays.
TikTok LIVE is casual, chaotic, spontaneous and so much more me.
I don't have to be perfect. I just have to show up.
And the best part? I can reach way more people with way less effort.
Like, I go live and boom! People actually show up. Comment. Share. Engage. I don't have to grind for hours just to hit discoverability.
It's instant community. Instant cozy chaos. Instant yes.
What I'm Streaming Now on TikTok
Now that I'm back on LIVE, here's what I'm focusing on
Casual cozy gaming (think horse games, farming sims, and chaos)
Creative chill streams (blog writing, journaling)
Real Talk and O&As (especially for creators and moms trying to build something real)
Behind the scenes of building my shop, blog, and mudroom storefront
Nothing fancy. Just real vibes, real time.
What I Let Go Of (And What I Gained)
What I Let Go Of
Twitch guilt
OBS anxiety
The pressure to be professional or overly curated
The feeling of having to stream even when I was tired
What I gained
Freedom to go live when/want
The ability to connect with my audience instantly
Way less tech stress
More joy. Like actually real joy
Done Fighting With Tech I just Want To Show Up
If you've been thinking about switching platforms...this is your sign.
If you're tired of fighting your software, forcing your stream, or dreading your schedule...this is your permission slip to pivot.
You're allowed to simplify. You're allowed to make it feel good again. You're allowed to go live without the chaos.
And if that means streaming on TikTok while sipping coffee in a hoodie and talking ot 10 cozy souls who get you?
Then you're already winning.
