Barbie Horse Trails: A Cute Idea That Fell Short

I went into Barbie Horse trails wanting to love it.
And I mean that genuinely.
I bought this game for my 6 year old daughter, who absolutely loves Barbie and horses. Add in a little nostalgia for me as a former horse girl, and I was honestly excited to sit down and play alongside her. On paper, this game sounds like a dream for younger players and cozy horse lovers.
But after spending real time with it and finishing the game I walked away disappointed.
The Concept Was There (And That's the Frustrating Part)

Let me start with the good, because there are good ideas here.
The story itself is cute.
The setting has potential.
Some of the NPCs are charming and unique.
This could have been a really solid entry-level horse game for kids.
Gameplay That Didn't Feel Kid-Friendly
For a game that clearly marketed toward children, the gameplay felt surprisingly frustrating.
Some quest were:
unnecessarily hard
poorly explained
or confusing to navigate
Even I had trouble finding trail markers at times and if I'm struggling, a young kid definitely will.
The world also felt oddly empty. There were moments where large areas had:
very few NPCs
little interaction
and a lot of running back and forth with nothing happening.
That kind of pacing doesn't work well for kids....or adults
The Lucky Mechanic was More Annoying Than Fun

One of the biggest issues for us was the Lucky mechanic during quests.
It went from:
"let's explore and have fun"
to:
"ugh, we have to stop again?"
It reached a point where my daughter didn't even want to keep playing and not because it was hard, but because it made it not fun.
That's never a good sign in a kid-focused gamed.
Cute...But Not Worth full Price
Here's the honest truth:
This is a cute game.
It's not just a full- price game.
If you have a child who really loves Barbie and horses, and you find this on sale?
Sure. It might be worth grabbing for a short playthrough.
But at full price?
I wouldn't recommend it.
The concept just isn't deep enough, polished enough, and engaging enough to justice the cost. Especially when there are better horse games out there with more heart and replay value.

This I completely agree with. The Barbie games seems to be only good in name. The cover photo is misleading as well. It makes you believe it could be two player. The last Barbie Franchise I played said it was two player, but it was not.
