Camper Van: Make It Home, But Should You?

Let's talk about Camper Van: Make It Home the cozy game that looked like it had everything going for it. Soft vibes. Cute concept. The kind of game you'd imagine sipping iced coffee to while you decorate a tiny space on wheels and feel your anxiety melt away.
Except.....that didn't happen.
Not even close.
The Bright Colors Gave Me a Headache (Literally)
I'm not even being dramatic when I say the color palette was too bright borderline neon. At first glance, it felt fun and warm, but once I actually got into the gameplay, it quickly became a visual overload. I found myself squinting trying to figure out where to put items, and instead of feeling cozy and inspired, I felt like I needed to turn the brightness all the way down just to think straight.
The colors clashed so much that the actual mechanics of placing furniture and items became annoying. And for a game that's entirely about decorating a van, that's not a great first impression.
A Cute Concept That Fell Flat
Let me start by saying this: the idea was there. I was rooting for this game. A tiny mobile space you get to customize and make your own? YES PLEASE.
But once I started playing, it didn't take too long to realize something was missing. Maybe it was the lack of personality or emotional connection. Maybe it was how short and rushed everything felt. Or maybe it's the fact that the game feels like it was made to go viral on TikTok, not to actually be played and enjoyed for hours.
Whatever it was it left me feeling bored. Like......20 mins in kind of bored. And that's coming from someone who lives for decorating and slow-paced games.
Finished in 3.5 Hours With Nothing Pulling Me Back
I finished the entire game in 3.5 hours. And not in a w "wow, that was a satisfying, wrapped- up experience" kind of way, more like. "wait that's it?"
There was nothing that made me want to replay it. No deeper story. No evolving challenges. No upgrades that felt rewarding. I decorated a cute little van and... that was it.
If I had spent real money on this game expecting hours of relaxation and replayability? I'd be fuming.
Can We talk About The Cozy Creator Hype Machine?
This is the part that's going to ruffle some feathers.
Because I know I'm not the only one who's noticed it. The overhype from cozy content creators who got the game early, played it for 20 minutes, posted the cutest aesthetic clips, and said it was the coziest game ever......
But never mentioned how shallow or short it actually was. Never said anything about the eye strain. Never gave honest feedback.
And look...I get it. Some of these creators are being sponsored. Some feel pressured to say only the nice things. But as someone who bought the game based on those reviews, I'm not gonna lie. It's hard to trust someone of these recommendations now.
It makes me double-check every "cozy" game that's trending. Because lately, a lot of them are just......mid
My Honest Take: Skip It
If you're looing for meaningful cozy game with charm, depth, and replayability? Camper Va: make It home probably isn't it. It had protentional, but potential doesn't carry a whole game.
At the end of the day, I'm glad I tried it because now I can say confiently: Not every cozy game is worth the hype. And it's okay to say that. We need more honesty in this space, not just pretty screenshots and curated videos.
Cozy Games I Recommend Instead:
The Ranch of Rivershine: Slow-paced, charming, and full of horse girl energy
Hello Kitty Island Adventure: cozy, adorable, and packed with content
A Tiny Sticker Tale: short but sweet, with heart

That's too bad! I kept looking at it for my daughter and I to play but I easily get headaches with games anyway. Maybe she would like it but I don't see myself playing it. I wonder why they put clashing colors in there!
